Sweden Green Building Council is a non-profit organization owned by its members, open to all companies and organizations within the Swedish construction and real estate sector who wish to develop and influence of environmental and sustainability work in the industry.
In Sweden Green Building Council, we have created a common set of values from which we operate for the accelerated development through joint certification, with a focus on Swedish needs and values.
Through the association we would like to meet the public’s need for clear and quality assured information on the environmental performance of buildings as well as to help increase the competitiveness of Swedish technology and Swedish expertise. We operate in accordance with the rules and intentions set out by World Green Building Council (World GBC), which include:
- Providing, developing and marketing certification scheme to enable benchmarking the national and international perspective.
- Provide certifications, courses and seminars / conferences to disseminate, implement and develop an understanding of sustainable construction.
- Be a strong opinion formers and as such contribute to the legislation promotes a sustainable building.
- Reach a state where all stakeholders reward sustainable buildings.
Sweden Green Building Council was founded in June of 2009 by thirteen Swedish companies and organizations: Akademiska hus, DTZ, Fastighetsägarna Sverige, Husvärden, IVL, NCC, Malmö Stad, SEB, Skanska, Stockholm Stad, Sweco, Vasakronan och White. In october 2011 we became an established member of World Green Building Council (World GBC).
